12:24 PM - Athens: Most Photogenic Town of the Day If you see me strolling the streets this afternoon, camera in tow, you'll not take long to find out why: everything is gorgeous today! The rusted water tower against the blue sky, the harshly beautiful Japanese maples with their red leaves, the children with their still-white winter caps fumbling their way along the sidewalks. The cheesy girl who hates how things she sees as beautiful are suddenly turned ugly and awkward when she attempts to verbalize them. Alas. What a great city. P.S. I am not an official fan of the Innocence Mission, but anyone who listens to "Tomorrow on the Runway" more than twice and doesn't love it is an utter fool. 1:20 AM - SMOKING Current mood: aggravated Okay, it's one thing for me to bitch about smelling smoky when I'm out in a city where bars = chain smoking. But I put clothes on at 9:45 that were fresh out of the wash, and I got my hair cut beautifully just today. By 11 PM I smelled terrible and now all my clothes smell stale and icky, plus my head started to kill. Oh, bars. Please just keep the door closed when people are smoking outside, and politely ask those who light up to step into the chilly air. Now I am tired and cranky and STINKY.
