| 1:53 AM - items for sale I subscribe to the UGA Graduate Student Association listserv (though I am no longer a student), and each week an email called the GSA Marketplace email is sent out. The Marketplace email is a way for grad students to advertise goods and services they're buying or selling--you know, like a marketplace?
Great, you've got it!
Often, the items for sale are quite obviously ones belonging to international students who are finished with Athens and are moving back to their home countries--the sellers are wanting to get rid of EVERYTHING, often at very low prices. It's strange to think of selling everything you own in one fell swoop (strange for me, at least).
Other times, it's fairly obvious that the technology-obsessed are running part of the show, buying up items wholesale and then trying to sell them for a profit. Luckily, the deft GSA secretary keeps this to a minimum. Once in a while, it seems that some strange birds out there just have eclectic collections of brand-new items they want to rid themselves on. This is how I came across some truly amazing office supply items that certainly do not lie dormant in my Room Full of Supplies That Would Be Useless to Almost Anyone Else in America.
Finally, there come the times when I see lists of items that make me sad. Such simple lists of items for sale and the insignificant prices attached to the used products! Reading lists like the following strikes a chord...
