| January 26, 2006 - Thursday  | 8:26 PM - MTM is the coolest... I love Mary. Did you all know that? Oh, I think you do. I am watching That 70s Show on purpose for the first time in my life. Truth be told, I'm not a fan. But I do enjoy the jokes that are throwbacks to The Mary Tyler Moore Show! I'll bet not too many folks my age are getting the subtle humor of these not-too-hilarious moments.
Meeting MTM was my dream for so long. I remember the dramatic day I met her in May of 2002. This story I don't tell often, and I won't tell it now. I recall being in a cab a couple of hours after the fateful meeting, traveling with my mom & sister to a graduation party--I was still really overwhelmed. My mom kept talking about it after I had asked her not to--and soon I just snapped and asked her rather pointedly to drop it, that I had requested that before and she had agreed. My sister scolded me for being short with my mom, and within seconds I was crying. As I've said before, I'm closer to the verge of tears when my family is around. This, in conjunction with my long-time meeting MTM dream coming true and an impending college graduation (plus the move from New York to Florida a week later), was too much to take. I am a crybaby, what can I say?
These are but a few of the thoughts I have as I watch this episode of That 70s Show, which films on the old soundstage on which The Mary Tyler Moore Show was filmed.
