 | 11:47 PM - city of angels... I've been thinking more & more about going out to visit Los Angeles again. It's true that Jen won't be there this year, and I won't be able to visit Eliza via that lovely coastal train. But I could see Matt 2 and Nanner G. and D.G. and Carley, and that would be lovely! Yesterday Lily & I were talking about L.A., her hometown, and she swore she could show me some glorious sights. Traveling with an exciting, like-minded girlfriend could be quite the thrill, I'm sure, and I wouldn't have to worry about what I'd do all day while my friends worked.
Part of this desire to visit the W. Coast comes from the fact that my house currently has no gas heat. Thanks be to god, I have my little portable electric heater. Another temptation? Reading the glorious descriptions of the city in the already-far-too-oft-mentioned Ann Patchett book, The Magician's Assistant. The one & only thing holding me back? No, not the cost, though that is a small issue. I just don't want the unnamed resident of Southern California to think I am going out there just to have another chance to hang out with him. Weird to worry about a FRIEND'S interpretation of your motives, I know.
But L.A., your streets are lined in palms, and if I hang out with Carley I can go to fashion shows. Hmmmmm....
