Here is a very long list of things that are okay to do if you're with someone but a tad heartbreaking if you're alone.

When I was a young lassie, I would beg my sister to play board games with me and she usually said no. This often resulted in my sitting by myself playing one on one (Janet vs Janet) Monopoly, rummy, etc. Poor girl.
dining at a restaurant
I don't agree with this one, but know a lot of people who do: going to the movies.
Going to the movies and dining alone are true delights!
I'm pretty independent, and I like doing many of these things by myself.
I think seeing a man feverishly scratching his lottery ticket by himself just made me sad. Could be he is perfectly happy.
Anywho. The more I have thought about this original post, the more I think there are very few things that fall into this category--but that could be that, as I hinted, I am not generally lonesome when alone.
